Background
The RSI Polaris is a nimble corvette-class ship, designed to fill the gap between larger capital ships and smaller sub-capital vessels. Introduced in 2016, the Polaris was developed to provide a versatile and powerful option for both military and civilian operations.
As a torpedo corvette, the Polaris excels in delivering heavy firepower through its advanced torpedo systems. It is equipped with four Size 10 torpedo launch tubes, capable of launching capital ship-killer torpedoes that can inflict significant damage on larger vessels. This makes the Polaris a formidable threat in space combat, capable of taking on much larger adversaries with its devastating payload.
The ship’s design allows it to carry a stockpile of 24 torpedoes, with an additional four pre-loaded for immediate launch. This extensive arsenal ensures that the Polaris can sustain prolonged engagements and deliver continuous firepower during critical missions. Its role as a torpedo corvette is further enhanced by its agility and speed, allowing it to maneuver effectively in combat scenarios and position itself for optimal torpedo strikes.
Overall, the RSI Polaris stands out as a versatile and powerful asset in any org’s fleet, capable of performing a wide range of roles from naval patrols to light strike missions, all while delivering unmatched torpedo firepower.

Deep intel on Polaris torpedo systems
Torpedo launch capability and specifications
The Polaris is equipped with four Size 10 torpedo launch tubes. Each launch tube is fed by a revolving magazine of 6 torpedoes. With 4 torpedoes capable of being preloaded into the tubes, it brings the total ordnance capacity to 28 Size 10 torpedoes.
As of Star Citizen patch 4.1.1, there are now up to seven different models of torpedo that the Polaris can equip. Of these torpedo models, three are infrared-seeking, two are electromagnetic-seeking, and two are crosssection-tracking.
The Behring VT-T10 “Veritas” serves as the Polaris’s stock Size 10 torpedo. It’s equipped with an IR sensor that has a maximum lock-on range of 30 km and a minimum lock-on range of 2.8 km, and 7-second lock-on time. Each torpedo is capable of travelling at 270 m/s and inflicting 750,000 damage against a target, with an effective explosion radius of just 40 m.
The EX-T10-IR, EX-T10-EM, and EX-T10-CS “Executor” are Behring’s second set of entries in the S10 arsenal. As their model names suggest, they’re equipped with an IR, EM, and CS-seeking guidance system respectively. They each have a 2.3 km to 27 km lock-on range and a 7-second lock-on time. At 610,000 damage with a 35 m explosion radius, these torpedoes are the among the least-damaging torpedoes. But they make up for it by being the fastest, with a top speed of 375 m/s.
At the time of the last update to this guide, it’s unclear whether the VT-T10 and EX-T10 series are equipped with strike or proximity fuzes.
Talon’s Vanquisher X-IR, X-EM, and X-CS are a set of strike fuze-equipped torpedoes. Like the EX-T10 series, they’re each respectively equipped with an IR, EM, or CS-seeking guidance system. They have a 34% greater maximum lock-on range than the VT-T10, at 40 km. But, their minimum lock-on range has also increased to 3.5 km. They maintains the same 7-second lock-on time, but are marginally slower than the VT-10T at 255 m/s1. Torpedoes from the Vanquisher X series carry a significantly more powerful payload capable of dealing 805,000 damage within a 55 m radius.
All about the torpedo launch control system consoles
The torpedo launch control system consoles are located on the port and starboard of the torpedo bay (labeled “Loading Bay” on the bulkheads). The torpedo bay is located toward the bow of the Polaris on Sublevel 1. Sublevel 1 can be accessed from the bow elevator, or through the cargo bay.
Each console incorporates three tactile buttons at the top of a single multi-function display (MFD). The tactile buttons are “PWR”, “USE”, and “EXT”. PWR turns the console on. USE enables the remote camera turret and target acquisition system. EXT allows you to step away from the console.
Once the torpedo launch control system console is powered, you’ll be greeted with the default screen with page selection arrows (often erroneously called a “scollbar”) at the bottom of the screen.
The first page displayed on the MFD is Power Management. Here, you can turn on the weapon power to fire torpedoes as well as manage power distribution for other systems.
Clicking the right arrow will bring you to the Weapon Configuration page. The next page is the Self-Status page.
How to launch a torpedo
Launching a torpedo from the RSI Polaris is a straightforward process. First, power on the torpedo launch control system console and weapon systems, then arm a torpedo.
Next, click the USE button near the top of the console to enter the remote camera turret, which allows you to queue the number of torpedoes to be fired and acquire a target. Pressing “G” will increase the number of torpedoes that are queued up to be fired. A maximum of 4 torpedoes can be fired in a salvo.
Acquiring a target is the same as in other warhead-launching turrets, such as those on the 890 Jump or the Polaris itself. Select a target by pressing “T” or “5”, and then wait for a lock. Once a lock is acquired, press LMB (left mouse button) to launch a torpedo. If no target is selected, or if the target is not acquired and locked on to, or if the target is outside the boundaries of the guidance system’s range, the torpedoes will be dumb-fired.
It’s important to highlight here that the remote turret has a full 360-degree view. As a result, it’s possible for the Polaris to lock targets for its torpedoes at oblique angles, and even behind itself. The torpedoes will be launched forward, and circle around to the target’s location.
To exit the remote camera turret, press “F”. You can step away from the console by holding “Y”, “W”, or pressing the EXT button near the top of the console.
