¤. The Currency sign is a character used to denote an unspecified currency. It’s one of two symbols used to denote United Earth Credits (sometimes called UEC or just “credits”).
₢. The old symbol we here at The Doctrine used to use to represent United Earth Credits. It was once used to denote the real-world Brazilian cruzeiro, a currency no longer in circulation. Alpha UEC was denoted by adding a lowercase Greek letter Alpha or “a” as a prefix (α₢, a₢, or a₢).
APSIDAL SPACE. The area between an astronomical body and its satellite(s). See “Defining the Battlespace”.
ASSAULT DROP SQUAD. An assault drop squad (ADS) is a rifle squad that specializes in deploying to and returning from the area of an operation via drop ship. Advanced drop squads may be fully tactically integrated with their drop ship, leveraging it as a platform for fire support e.g. deploying from an Aegis Redeemer and then directing the Redeemer in close air support missions.
ASTROSPACE, or astronomical space, is the measurable area between astronomical objects or bodies. Synonymous with “outer space”.
CLAUSTROTERRANEAN. Enclosed environments such as caves and space station interiors. See “Defining the Battlespace”.
DEEP SPACE. If “astrospace” denotes the measurable area between astronomical objects or bodies, then “deep space” denotes the type of environment within that area. Artificial constructs traveling through such an area typically experience minimal gravitational influence from natural astronomical objects. “Deep space” is to “astrospace” as “underwater” is to “the ocean”.
DIMIDIUM. Latin for “the half” (ex.: dimidium plenum, “half full”; dimidium vacuum, “half empty”). Any environment with a pressure of fewer than 0.0618 atmospheres, but still more than 0. See “Defining the Battlespace”.
KARMAN ZONE. Generally, the area between astronomical bodies and apsidal space. Typically experienced in atmospheres but may also be found in some dimidiums. See “Defining the Battlespace”.
SIDERITIME. From Latin sideris (star, stars). The appropriate term when the reference is to organizations, environments, or peoples on the borders of an astronomical region or to the navigation of or commerce in astrospace. “Sideritime” is to astrospace as “maritime” is to water.
SUBMERSEAN. Pertains to environments in which objects experience very high physical pressure all around, but may still traverse freely. Underwater is one such example of a submersean environment. See “Defining the Battlespace”.
