Star Citizen Hunting Journal 001: Tundra Kopion, MicroTech (Stanton IV)
Embarking on a hunting expedition in the frigid expanses of MicroTech, Nul Dat, a seasoned hunter since 2946, shares a detailed account of his pursuit of the cunning and deadly tundra kopion.
Hunting property located 16.5 kilometers from Shubin Mining Facility SM0-18, MicroTech, roughly heading 216 degrees.
Weather was temperate and agreeable. Wind speed was negligible, and barometric pressure was indictive of a nice, sunny day in the temperate zone. There were trace to scattered clouds in the sky.
Moons phases, and sunrise and sunset times were unnoted.
Noticed some activity taking place at Shubin Mining Facility SM0-18 during my departure, including the arrival of 1 Crusader Industries Hercules A2, 1 white triangular ship I could not readily identify, and 1 Crusader Industries Mercury Starrunner. Upon further thought, the unidentified ship may have been a Crusader A1 Spirit. I don’t think it was a Ares Inferno Ion.

Entered the hunting property heading 144 degrees toward Shubin Mining Facility SM0-18 after a brief flyover with a Drake Cutter to survey the area. Pack of nine kopions spotted a few minutes shy of 2230h Stanton IV time. Set down and travelled toward the last known location of the kopions by Mirai Pulse for about 310 meters before debarking and travelling an additional 100 meters by foot.
Terrain and foliage were typical of MicroTech’s temperate tundra biome. Open plains broken up by a few patches of forest here and there off in the distance. The ground was hilly but free of any serious impediment to vehicles.
No tree stand or hunting blind was used.
The kopions were gathered together on the plains. They were not eating anything, but appeared to be holding their position as if they’d made a kill. Two seemed interested in the ground for an undetermined reason. Four of the kopions appeared to be displaying territorial behavior. A few grunt calls were heard from various members of the pack.
Hunt was initiated with a Kastak Arms Scalpel sniper rifle equipped with an NV-TAC Gamma Duo 2x optic. The Scalpel was set to double-shot due to an abundance of caution and inexperience with hunting kopion. Six kopions were killed with one trigger-pull each. The pack made no move to retaliate, so after running out of Scalpel ammo, an ArcLight pistol with an NV-TAC Delta 1x optic was used. The remaining three kopions were killed with 5 to 6 shots each.
Completed the hunt with nine kopion horns harvested. Returned to Drake Cutter and exited the hunting ground vertically until orbit, then set course for and arrived at Port Tressler.
Questions to research or ask other hunters: were these savannah, forest, or tundra kopions? Given the area, I’m leaning toward savannah. After some research, it turns out these were the tundra subspecies. Kopion subspecies can be distinguished by their pelts. In this case, white pelts with dark clouds or spots denote a member of the tundra subspecies.
Need to buy 1 pre-loaded Scalpel magazine, 1 charged ArcLight battery, and 1 bottle of water. I’ll also need to send in an insurance claim for the Mirai Pulse. There was a mishap due to a known defect in the Pulse’s gravlev. Damn thing just floated away.
No other unique memories to report.
